At this year’s New York Comic Con, Viz Media made a splash by announcing the simultaneous release of the highly anticipated fantasy comic, Kaze no Kamudo (Wind of Kamudo), by artist duo Himika Morimoto and Akira Akagi. The news sent fans of the series into a frenzy, and the comic quickly sold out at the convention.

First Two Chapters Available for Free

The first two chapters of Kaze no Kamudo are now available for free on Viz Manga and mobile apps, with new chapters released every first and third Thursday of the month. In Japan, the comic is available on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry service, where readers can access the latest chapters every Sunday.

A World of High Stakes and Adventure

In the world of Kaze no Kamudo, humans and demons coexist, with the demon king, Ryu Jin Kyou, ruling over a fragile peace. But as prophesied, a new era has begun, and the balance of power is shifting. The rise of Kamaha, the first human child, is foretold to either bring about a catastrophe or salvation. Will this new era be one of hope or despair?

Creators’ Inspiration and Influence

In a recent interview, creator Himika Morimoto revealed that the team drew inspiration from Asian history and mythology, citing influences such as the works of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. As well-known for their work on the manga adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the duo are no strangers to fantasy and adventure.
