Official X Twitter Account Reveals New Animation Production

San-X, the creator of the beloved Rilakkuma character, has announced on its official X Twitter account that the character will be receiving an animation production from Production I.G.! The exciting news has sent Rilakkuma fans into a frenzy, and the anticipation is palpable.

Behind-the-Scenes Magic

According to the announcement, the animation is being produced under the direction of Itazawa Yoshimi, who has previously worked on several notable animation projects, including the animated film "Consie." The film’s story is being written with the help of a talent pool consisting of character designer/ key animator Morita Chiyo, concept color designer Hirose Izumi, animator Nagami Mai, editor Uemat Suichi, and director Takahashi Hiroshi, among others.

A Sneak Peek of the Animation’s Theme Song

The animation’s first trailer has also been released, featuring a catchy theme song performed by YOASOBI’s vocalist Lilas Ikuta, with the title "stay with me." Fans of the character are already raving about the song and the animation’s vibrant animation styles.

A Brief History of Rilakkuma

Rilakkuma, created by Gondo Akira in 2003, has come a long way from its humble beginnings. In 2019, Netflix released an animated series featuring Rilakkuma and Kuririn, and in 2022, the company dropped a new series, "Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure Stomp Motion Animation."
