In the series, high school student Tatsuya Asano loses his family in a car accident and becomes a social outcast. The only person he can turn to is his childhood friend and leader of the world’s strongest spy family, Yozakura Mitsumi. Mitsumi’s older brother, Kyochi, has been overly protective of her since she suffered a serious injury at his hands. The intensity of his love for her has become a ticking time bomb, and Tatsuya becomes his next target. To survive, Tatsuya must marry Mitsumi and become a member of the Yoakura family. As he embarks on a journey to uncover the dark secrets of the family’s past, he must also learn to protect his new wife.

The first season was directed by Mirai Miyamoto (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Our Last Crusade or Roar of the Basilisk) and the series composition was handled by Silver Link. Character designer and overall director Takahashi Mizuki (Mu Shin Sang) is responsible for the series’ unique design, while the music was composed by Fujimoto Koji (Ragna Crimson, Tiermoon Empire) and Sasaki Osamu (Daizhi isn’t Defeated!).

Gonidora’s manga series debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2019. Since then, it has been published digitally simultaneously in English by Viz Media. In addition to digital releases, Viz Media has also published the series in physical form starting from the first volume in October 2022. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service has also released the series digitally in English.
