Bitter Vacances, the Theme Song of the Upcoming Japanese Film "Saint Onisama" Unveiled

The Japanese rock band Green Apple has unveiled the theme song "Bitter Vacances" for the upcoming film "Saint Onisama", which is set to be released on December 20th. The song, written and composed by the lead vocalists of the band, Omori Motoshi, is a special creation for the film.

A Nostalgic Blend of Music and Anime

Omori Motoshi, a self-proclaimed fan of the anime series, revealed that he has been fascinated by the story of Saint Onisama since his junior high school days, when he would eagerly acquire new volumes at the bookstore. For the film, he wrote the lyrics and composed the music, infusing the song with a nostalgic and wistful atmosphere.

The Film: A Humorous Take on Life

Saint Onisama is a comedy anime that tells the story of two ROOM, a Buddhist monk and a Jesus-like figure, living together in a humble Tokyo apartment without a bathroom. The film is a creative take on the daily struggles and humorous moments of life in the city.

Stunning Cast and Crew

The returning cast and crew of the film include Matsuyama Ken, who plays Jesus, and Sometani Shota, who plays the role of Buddha, both of whom have appeared in the previous live-action series. Fujiwara Yuichi, who directed and wrote the screenplay for the film, also returns for the second installment.

TOHO has announced that the official website will release exclusive content every 23rd of the month, leading up to the film’s release. The first 10 episodes of the live-action series were released on Kakaku Nihon Pictures’ Pikoma TV streaming service in 2018, followed by the second season in 2019, and the third season in 2020.

A Global Sensation

The anime series has gained a global following, with Kodansha USA Publishing releasing the series in digital format in English. Noma Kadoma, the creator of the original manga, won the 13th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for Short Story in 2009.
